Bewitching and surreal, Marcel Dzama's celestial paintings are the focus of David Zwirner's latest London show.

Featuring a series of new paintings in what will be his third exhibition at 24 Grafton Street, London, Child of Midnight (17 November–22 December 2022) unfolds Dzama's expansion of the folk vernacular.

The exhibition will include surreal waterscapes inspired by the current climate crisis and the writings of Dante Alighieri and William Blake.

Reflecting on the relentless destruction of the natural world, Midnight's Children (2022) depicts a scene of animals and a cloaked figure submerged in dark water. Dzama's otherworldly painting is at once beautiful as it is threatening, suggesting a vision of what is yet to come. Despite the heavenly details of golden stars and a glowing moon, Dzama's painting exists as a visual reminder that the Doomsday Clock continues to tick.

Open from 17 November to 22 December 2022, the magical scenery and anthropomorphic characters of Dzama's paintings promise a fascinating viewing.
