DAVID DOUARD

He presents a body of new sculptures in which plaster, aluminium, wood, metal, leather or textile are combined with everyday objects. Frozen in their new shape, these objects lose their original function entering a metamorphosis. The object-sculpture becomes tense, resists categorisations and opens up to an imaginary dimension, where ghostly presences materialise eluding definitions.

In the labyrinthine walk across the space, plaster masks and faces appear, intertwined ceramic tongues talk to one another, fragments of texts poured into plaster balls are suspended at eye level.

The exhibition unfolds then almost as a declaration of love to existence and to the body beyond the tangible.

David Douard was born in 1983 in Perpignan, France.He lives and works in Paris, France.

His work has been subject of solo exhibition at Kunstverein Braunschweig, Germany (2016), Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2014) and Sculpture Center, New York, (2014).
