Wang Zhiyi was born in Hubei in 1991. He enrolled in Hubei Institute of Fine Arts Department of Design in 2010, and graduated with BFA from Hubei Institute of Fine Arts Department of Mural and Comprehensive Material in 2014. In recent years, he is interested in the symbolization and indication of color and graphics on the perceptual level, while he explores the synaesthetic relationship between psychology, metaphors and their implied meanings. His curatorial practice focuses on individual artists, the realities they are faced with and the fundamental motivation of their artistic creativity. His solo exhibitions include: Meaning (Capsule Shanghai, Shanghai, 2018), Painting Is Pleasure (C5 Art Center, Beijing, 2016), The Gestalt (Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, Wuhan, 2014). Group exhibitions include: Wall Power IV (Times Art Museum, Beijing, 2019), Becoming (Today Art Museum, Beijing, 2018), Refocusing (Fine Arts Literature Art Center, Wuhan, 2017), Abstract Q&A (Star Gallery, Beijing, 2016), The Boundaries of Order (Hive Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing, 2015), Soft Abstraction as Constellation (UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing, 2014). He has participated in K11 Art Village Artist-in-Residence Programme (K11 Art Foundation, Wuhan, 2016-2018). He is awarded First prize of Wall Power Artist in 2018. Wang Zhiyi's articles are published in magazines including ARTFORUM, LEAP, ART WORLD, ARTSHARD , ART FRONTIER, THE ART LITERATURE, JZZP,PULSASIR and ART COLLECTION.
