Galería Hilario Galguera is pleased to present BABEL. A pictorial essay that intertwines historical times to think about the possibilities of the real and the scope of human creation.
The exhibition BABEL**__**by artist Dagoberto Rodríguez (Cuba, 1969)****integrates two pictorial series that revisit the ancient myth of the Tower of Babel through the gaze of contemporary technology. The works weave connections of past and future times through a unique perspective on human creation, and the contemporary complexities of communication.
By asking artificial intelligence for images of the Tower of Babel, Rodriguez obtains surprising results: massive architectures that resemble the ziggurats of ancient Mesopotamia, merging historical aesthetics with the futuristic imagery of science fiction.
This exhibition activates a dialogue between the history between those millenary temples, the power of myth and the current stories of a humanity still struggling to communicate harmoniously. In Refugee Camp**__**Rodriguez immerses himself in the urbanism of refugee camps. Using satellite images, the artist addresses the issue of displacement caused by geopolitical conflicts and environmental crisis through a series of watercolours that reflects an abstract and dystopian perspective of reality.
Inspired by the aesthetics of Lego toys, the artist recreates the edges of his home in Cuba in the works 'Block I, II and III**'**. This gesture, born of the migrant experience, reflects the human capacity to build a home and recreate it in new environments, a central theme in mass migrations and displacements.
Dagoberto Rodriguez's BABEL****is a deep immersion in the cycles of history and new technologies as crucial questions about the fragilities of the future.
