Starting in June 2023, the Lenbachhaus Munich will present the donation of Jörg Johnen under the title Fragment of an Infinite Discourse. Alongside works by Rosa Barba, AA Bronson, David Claerbout, Katharina Fritsch, Mario García Torres, General Idea, Rodney Graham, Tino Sehgal and Jeff Wall, three objects by Johannes Nagel will also be on display. Michael Zink is now dedicating a solo exhibition to the ceramist in the rooms of Artcurial in Munich's Hofgarten-Arcaden and is showing current porcelain objects from his studio.
Johannes Nagel initially completed a classical apprenticeship with the Japanese master ceramist Kinya Ishikawa. Originally created in the context of applied art, Nagel's works increasingly developed into autonomous objects that are indebted to the craft in their materiality, but can also be understood as three-dimensional abstract sculptures. His excavations, cuts, or clusters are works made of porcelain that are only remotely reminiscent of vessels, but themselves possess an autonomous object quality. After a juxtaposition with the painter Rosilene Ludoviko 2020 in the rooms of Galerie Zink in Waldkirchen, the works of Johannes Nagel are now presented at Artcurial in the context of Old Masters by Marco Pesarese Fine Art.
