Born in 1972 in the United states, Steven Gontarski graduated from Brown University and earned his Masters of Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Based in the United Kingdom for ten years, Gontarski established a studio practice and exhibited his sculptures, drawings and paintings worldwide.

He has delivered lectures focusing on his art in relation to popular culture and art history at several institutions including the Royal College of Art, Cambridge University, Bryn Mawr College and Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery. His large-scale, public work stands in France and the United Kingdom.
He currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California, USA.
