He earned his undergraduate degree in Visual Arts at the University of Westminster, UK, graduating in 1977. After that, he took additional courses with Ansel Adams in 1975, Manuel Álvarez Bravo in 1983, Arnold Newman in 1985, and Eikoh Hosoe in 1996.

Internationally, he has exhibited in Switzerland, Austria, China, Belgium, England, France, Italy, Panama, Colombia, and Spain.
The keeper and restorer of the photographic legacy of his father, cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa, he has produced a body of photographs of the filmmaker’s finest shots and scenes in diverse portfolios. He has collaborated with the Cineteca Nacional in the restoration of some of his films.
He has been honored four times by being selected as a member of the prestigious Sistema Nacional de Creadores. In addition, has been a digital printer for more than eight years and is now the owner and founder of the Club de Impresores Digitales de la Ciudad de México.
