Gallery THEO has announced that it will host Han Lee's solo exhibition The Interpreter from 21 July to 18 August 2023.
The theme of the exhibition is The Orderly Objects for Communication, which seeks to explore and answer the question of how nature and humans communicate. Through his works, the artist shows how the chaotic and vast series of incoming signals from other objects can only be understood clearly if they are properly arranged in the right order.
The body of the work, which is located in the front, plays the role of a complementary interpreter (translator) between the object and the subject, as if the signals, such as the small signs scattered without order on the floor of the exhibition hall, have been arranged and found order. In this way, the artist is telling us through this exhibition that nature is already sending messages. We must strive to learn to decode and interact with it, otherwise, it is seemingly disorderly.
Modern society is already experiencing a clash of different languages, cultures, and customs through globalization, and conflicts are arising as communication channels such as the internet and social media become more diverse. 'The Interpreter' exhibition presents one answer to the question of how to communicate with nature, but its meaning will be expanded to a way to establish an order for communication through mutual understanding based on our consciousness and perception.
Gallery THEO said that Han Lee's The Interpreter exhibition will be a great opportunity for visitors to find ways to communicate with nature and, in the process, think about how to overcome communication barriers between humans.
