Born in 1973 as the eldest son of Western painter Koji Kinutani, he spent his childhood in Rome and Venice. He decided to become a sculptor in 1991 under the influence of sculptor Yoshitatsu Yanagihara. In 1996, he graduated from Nihon University College of Art, Department of Fine Arts, Sculpture Course. In 1998, he completed his master's degree in sculpture at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2002, he completed the doctoral course in sculpture at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. Afterwards, he became a researcher at the University of São Paulo (Brazil), and was also involved in training the next generation at Nagoya University of Arts, Osaka University of Arts, Tokyo Polytechnic University, etc. In 2008, he created a monument commemorating the 100th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil. In 2019, he is participating in numerous projects both domestically and internationally, including working on a monument commemorating the enthronement of His Majesty the Emperor.
