Our subject in Osa Ahia is an impeccably dressed Nigerian woman inspired by Muoh’s own mother, an accomplished tailor. The subject is beautifully dressed (she is her own walking advertisement Muoh explains), before descending on the market, a critical social, networking and shopping affair. The foodstuffs in this image refer to the rampant on selling and markup of products– not in local currency but in US Dollars. Muoh’s position here is that nothing is safe from the state of play in Nigerian economics, even staple noodles that everybody in Nigeria knows and indeed relies on.
