Gallery chosun presents Painting painted Painting" by artist LEE Yoonseo from Wednesday 11 October to Tuesday 31 October 2023. LEE Yoonseo, who translates the constant flow and circulation of vast online information and images through painting, will draw the current information landscape, leaving only the surface, and tell the story of the distorted 'original source' within that landscape.LEE Yoonseo has been swiftly recording the traces of images encountered through smartphones onto canvas, then recording the traces of the next image, and the next, with speed. The paintings created through this process continuously move and flow from one to the next, depicting the depthless landscape of today. The series with the same title as the exhibition, Painting painted Painting, translates textual or image information into 'impressions' or 'gestures,' and then paints the resulting image on a different background. The size and proportions of gestures, observed in person, imperfect memories, hand movements, and brushstroke gestures on a new background, distort the 'original source' and translate it into a different form. This process resembles the way information constantly circulates, loses context, is distorted, and is translated in today's world. LEE Yoonseo's paintings not only reflect the contemporary information environment but also prompt reflection on changing personal attitudes and sensibilities. For example, tragic real-world events are repeatedly reproduced through countless words and images online, leading to a dilution of the weight the event carries, sometimes appearing as if only noise lingers. Lee Yun-seo's paintings, with their rapid brushstroke gestures and remaining partial forms resembling glitches, mirror our current sense of constantly conflicting with something in our fast-paced reality.
