Michael Stevenson was born in New Zealand, 1964, and has been living and working in Berlin since 2000. Since 2011 he has held a Professorship at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg, and beginning 2017 he is a visiting artist in the Masters programme at HEAD, Haute Ecole d'art et de design, Genève. Stevenson was awarded the New Zealand residency programme in 2002 at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin and in 2006 was the Capp St. resident artist at the Wattis Institute CCA in San Francisco.
