Cheung is a conceptual artist practicing primarily photography and video. Having connected emotionally to hospital due to his past working experience years ago, he created Secret Dialogue: About Children Hospital comprising panoramic photographs and a dual screen video. In the photographs, Cheung adopted the method ‘light painting’ to illuminate different spots of the site by memory without being able to see; in the video, words, images and objects are intentionally outlined and cut out to reinforce Roland Barthes’ s concept of ‘punctum’. Cheung has recently extended this method of making to create a new series The Making Of New Territories.
