Martin Werthmann Biography

Martin Werthmann (b.1982 in Gießen, Germany) studied from 2004 to 2009 at the Academy of Fine Arts Hamburg, with Andreas Slominski. He also was a student of Wim Wenders, Fatih Akin and Daniel Richter. In 2019 Werthmann designed the scenery and backdrop for the opera Die Tote Stadt at Theatre Bremen in Bremen, Germany. Recent solo and group exhibitions include Martin Werthmann, Central Institute for Art History, Munich, Germany; World in limbo - air as a material in the visual arts from modernity to the present, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany; Martin Werthmann, Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich, Germany; Martin Werthmann - Catastrophe as Space, Heldenreizer Contemporary, Munich; Silence after Storm, Galerie Tore Suessbier, Berlin, and Martin Werthmann - Woodblock Prints, Wilding Cran Gallery, Los Angeles, CA.
