Read MorePatrick Lee’s works of acrylic on canvas blend Chinese and European influences through his combination of abstract landscapes, natural colors that reflect the ambience of nature and sky, traditional Chinese motifs, and modern mediums and contexts. His works are inspired by his surroundings and experiences in China and Taiwan, often incorporating bold strokes characteristic of traditional ink painting and images common to ancient cave paintings such as Buddhas and perfect suns. Lee sees no dissonance or conceit in his simultaneous appreciation for past traditions and contemporary culture, instead considering his works as reflections of his daily environment with its inherent dialogues of East and West, past and present. For Lee, art is a passion, an exercise in meditation, and a sense of pure enjoyment.
