Tan Mu (b. 1991 in Yantai, CN) lives and works in the United States. In 2015, she earnedher BFA in Expanded Media Studio Art from Alfred University, NY. Tan Mu's work is areflection on the construction of socio-technological history, combined with theexpression of a distinctly personal experience. As a witness and interpreter, her paintingsand multidisciplinary work examine the concept of bodily and mediated presence inmodern society. By delving into the process of microscopes, satellites, and humanimagination, Tan Mu's art goes beyond practical machinery and iconography. Rather, sheseeks to navigate the expansive human history of tool creation, the pursuit of truth, andthe exploration of the unknown, maneuvering them into her lifetime and immediateenvironment. Tan Mu has presented solo exhibitions at Peres Projects, Berlin and Milan(2022), and Between Art Lab, Beijing (2022). Her work has been shown in institutionalgroup exhibitions, including Zhangzhou Museum, Zhangzhou (2017), ChongqingMuseum of Contemporary Art, Chongqing (2017), and the International Print Center,New York (2015). She is currently participating in a group exhibition curated by DanniShen at YveYANG, New York.
