HdM GALLERY is delighted to announce our participation in DnA SHENZHEN art fair from 30 September–4 October with a solo presentation of artist Gioele Amaro.
Gioele Amaro is a Paris based, Italian artist who often defines himself as a digital painter. His body of work blends, distorts, transforms and blurs the line between traditional and new media.
Esteemed curator and writer Suchao Li writes: 'The production of images has permeated basic human experience since the birth of mankind. Just like the concept of "image history is human history" put forward by art historian Hans Belting, and Heidegger's concept of 'the world is image.'
Chiara Bottici responded in the same way in his 'Imaginal Politics: Image beyond Imagination and the Imaginary.' Without images, there would be no world for us. For the world, there would be no core existence of ourselves. When considering the paintings of artist Gioele Amaro, those distorted, true and illusory images are produced by the combination of digital and hand-made, revealing the unique characteristics of today's digital age. The experience of an image and its reproduction are vulnerable to subjectibity.
