THIS IS NO FANTASY is excited to present Michael Cook's new photographic series
Object in the gallery following the recent launch of the works in Venice, where they are showing at Personal Structures: Crossing Borders, Palazzo Mora, during the 56th Venice Biennale.
In
Object hypothetical narratives are played out as Cook re-imagines and reverses events, calling into question entrenched attitudes and ingrained beliefs about race, history and equality. The exhibition was featured in this morning's The Age and Sydney Morning Herald.
Michael's work is currently on show at the British Museum, London as a part of
Indigenous Australia: Enduring Civilisation recently opened by the Prince of Wales. He has also been curated into a number of significant exhibitions this year including at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; University of Queensland Art Museum, Brisbane; Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney; Glen Eira City Council Gallery, Melbourne; KickArts Contemporary Art, Cairns and Manly Art Museum, Sydney.
