'My paintings are the result of taking some common pictorial strategies and mixing them up with a number of principles ubiquitous to the way chaos is conceptualised across a range of academic traditions; mainly science, philosophy and history.

I don't try to necessarily represent these principles faithfully but instead use them as a generative formula to idiosyncratically test the limits of painting itself, to see what else it might be capable of. My practice therefore is deeply tied to the craft and tradition of painting, but not in a sentimental sense that looks to the past, instead I look toward an unknown future and all of the uncertainty and surprise it may have in store.'
