Since 1993, the Sharjah Biennial has provided a platform for contemporary artists to explore and respond to urgent social, political, and cultural issues relevant to both Sharjah and the global community.
The Sharjah Biennial has played a significant role in shaping the contemporary art landscape in the Middle East and beyond, contributing to the visibility and recognition of artists from the region. At each edition, international artists and collectives present a broad range of media, including large-scale public installations, performances, and films.
The Biennial is organised by the Sharjah Art Foundation, whose extensive programmes aim to foster a rich environment for both art practitioners and the public. March Meeting, held annually in March, is one of the Foundation’s core initiatives that brings together curators, artists, and other art professionals for critical exchange.
