Diego Singh is an Argentinean painter based in New York, Salta and Miami. His paintings address language, communication, and further explore visual possibilities of style and perception as they are played out within the bounds of a canvas. Singh’s works resist consistency and linearity by opening out the image towards what the artist calls “casual abstraction”.
Taking as his subject the detailing of jean pockets and denim, as well as the captcha quotes that discern human internet users from automated viruses, Singh’s iconography is distinctly concerned with contemporary popular aesthetics. The artist’s visual vocabulary functions both as a leaping off point towards abstraction, as well as a loving examination of the signs and symbols that comprise everyday experience for the 21st century viewer.
