Born in 1982 in Hangzhou, China. Liu Xinyi graduated from China Academy of Fine Art in 2007 and Goldsmith College, London in 2010. Liu is interested in the extent of public awareness of political knowledge. Through a wide spectrum of media, he mixes general knowledge on politics with common logic to create a new, at times strange, pathway to experiencing the world. He now lives and works in Beijing.
Liu has exhibited widely both in China and internationally, notably at Zabludowicz Collection, London (2009), Hatch Space, London (2011), V Art Center, Shanghai (2012), Shanghai Biennale, Shanghai (2012), Ullens Center of Contemporary Art, Beijing (2013), Aike-Dellarco Gallery, Shanghai (2013), Yuz Museum, Jakarta (2013), Cul De Sac Gallery, London (2013), Art Basel Hong Kong, Hong Kong (2013), Art Taipei, Taipei (2013), White Space Beijing, Beijing (2012, 2013). He was commissioned by Chinese Arts Center in Mancester in 2011 to produce work for its First Step programme.
