Bailly Gallery is pleased to present its upcoming exhibition, “Poetic Lives, Intimate Visions of Modern France”, on view from June 2 to September 10, 2025, at 10 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville, 1204 Geneva.
The exhibition brings together eight remarkable artists who, each in their own distinctive way, reflect the richness and diversity of French painting from the late 19th century through the early decades of the 20th. Closely linked to movements such as Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, and Pointillism, their works reveal a tapestry of unique sensibilities, offering a vision of modern France that is both diverse and deeply personal.Among the featured artists — to highlight just a few — are Moïse Kisling, known for his tender still lifes and portraits, Henri Martin, whose landscapes are steeped in a spiritual light, and Achille Laugé, celebrated for his finely nuanced pointillist compositions. Together, their works open a window onto a poetic and intimate France, illuminated by light, emotion, and quietude, where daily life is rendered with a delicate sense of lyricism.Suspended between dream and reality, this exhibition invites viewers on a journey into the heart of an inner France — one of secret gardens, introspective figures, and contemplative landscapes — revealing the deeply personal visions of artists for whom painting becomes a poetic act.
