About Sydney Contemporary 13

ABOUT
Sydney Contemporary 13 is Australia’s new international art fair presenting modern and contemporary artwork from over 80 Australian and international galleries.

The inaugural exhibitor list contains some of the most respected names in contemporary art, spanning 11 countries and 4 continents around the world, establishing Sydney Contemporary as a must see event on the cultural calendar. The Fair is the first time Carriageworks will be used for an event of this kind, utilising the distinctive nineteenth century architecture to create a unique fair unlike any in the world.

VISITOR INFORMATION

THE VENUE
Housed in the old Eveleigh Rail Yards on Wilson Street, and located within an evolving urban arts precinct, Carriageworks has been developed by the NSW State Government through Arts NSW. Carriageworks produces and presents a diverse, multi-disciplinary program that explores contemporary ideas and issues by working with local and international artists from a range of cultures and communities.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION
The multi-venue site is conveniently situated and easily accessible: 10 minutes from the heart of the CBD by car or public transport, walking distance from key train and bus depots, and a 5 to 10 minute drive from the many galleries located in and around Waterloo. The space is central to Sydney’s urban creative hub, and well known for its dynamic cultural events, weekend food markets, and community engagements.

PARKING
An allocation of disabled car spaces will be reserved on site, enter at 229 Wilson Street, opposite Queen Street.

On site visitor parking will be limited and attract a service fee, more information will be provided in the lead up to the Fair. Fair management encourages visitors arriving by car to park at the Seymour Centre where a shuttle bus service will be provided to transport visitors to Carriageworks.

Carriageworks is located close to Sydney University, the Seymour Centre, and Australian Technology Park. Casual parking is available at these sites for a fee.

TRAIN
Redfern Station is an 8 minute walk, with Macdonaldtown and Newtown Station both a 10 -15 minute walk.

BUSES
422, 423, 426, 428, 370, 352
Nearest stop is at Codrington Street at City Road, approximately a 5minute walk to Carriageworks.

ACCESS
Carriageworks has wheelchair ramp and level access at all entrances. There is level access and disabled seating available in venues. Toilets are fully accessible.
