Suleman Aqeel Khilji (b. Quetta) is a Visual artist and educator, lives and works in Lahore. Suleman graduated from National College of Art Lahore in 2011 and currently is part of NCA Lahore as a permanent faculty. He has been part of Artist Residencies such as VASL, Muree Museum Artist Residency and Mansion Artist Residency. He has exhibited his work locally and internationally.
His works are part of prestigious collections, such as the DIL Foundation, New York, COMO Museum, SRK Homes and the Luciano Benetton Collection. He was also the cover artist for The Aleph Review, Vol. 5 (2021).
Suleman examines the process of painting & drawing. The process is based on research and experimentation, which then mostly revolves around the notions of time and space. While looking at the contradictions through the lenses of urban/social growth, he tries to examine visuals sourced from history and contemporary culture. Suleman’s work therefore often intentionally blurs the lines between fact and fiction, documentation and imagination.
