About the Artist

Virginia de Medeiros uses documentary strategies as a way of transgressing hegemonic accounts and questioning the border between reality and fiction. The artist adapts images of documentaries and reports of experiences, reviewing representations of reality and otherness through subjectivity. Her video works and audiovisual installations always seek to blend the language of art and the media, as well as expand the aesthetic and technological possibilities of engendering new forms of expression.

About the Gallery

Founded in São Paulo in 1989, Galeria Nara Roesler is a leading Brazilian gallery dedicated to showing the work of contemporary Brazilian and international artists. The gallery established another branch in Rio de Janeiro in 2014, followed by its first international outpost in New York City in 2015.
