Herbert Brandl Biography

Herbert BRANDL, born in 1959 in Graz, is an Austrian painter whose abstract pictorial universe suggests an atmospheric color space. The landscape is a recurrent subject in BRANDL’s paintings, which are written out in diverse facets: from impressionistic over expressionistic to sensitive pictorial.

From the mid 80s onwards BRANDL participated in internationally renowned exhibitions such as the Biennale de Paris, 1985, Musée d´Art de la Ville de Paris, 1990, documenta IX, 1992 and Painting on the Move, Kunsthalle Basel, Museum für Gegenwartskunst, 2002. In 2007 he was the Austrian representative at the Biennale di Venezia.
