We are delighted to present Yang Xinguang's fifth solo exhibition at Beijing Commune, Winds of Spring, on 11 March 2023. The show will last till 11 May 2023.
Yang Xinguang takes natural materials such as plants and earth as themes, which are also objects intertwined, superimposed and juxtaposed with industrial materials in his art works. He tries to explore the special status of natural things in the human environment recontextualise the discussion of their relationship in a humourous way. In his practice, grasses, trees, earth and stones are not merely passive existence, instead, they are eroding and undermining, autonomously, the narratives on development in the Anthropocene era. The exhibition will showcase a new series of works by the artist created in the recent two years.
