In Gazelli Art House’s first show of the year, A Sky Full Of Larks – Through the Rainbows We Fly, Walter & Zoniel present works that reflect upon the relationship between our inner self and that of the public domain. In an age of exaltation and proliferation of the self image, where the clarion call of a new era seems to sound every day, and in a world obsessed with imagery, self proclamation and publication, so many questions are constantly posed. How we answer each of them is the daily dance between representation and reality.
Walter & Zoniel’s Alpha-Ation series have a direct, step-by-step relationship to the processes we go through in iconising ourselves or others at the touch of our phone, while their site specific installation Anon. utilises surrealism and social media to pose questions about joy, connection, isolation, portrayal and age.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a performance which will be held every evening following the launch, from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th of January between 6 and 9 PM. The performance will be visible from outside of the gallery.
