About Sydney Contemporary 2025

Sydney Contemporary is Australasia’s largest international art fair held annually at Carriageworks, the cultural precinct located at the former Eveleigh Railway Workshops in Redfern, Sydney. Launched in 2013 by Tim Etchells initially as a biannual event, the fair moved to an annual cycle in 2017 and is today billed one of the most celebrated events in Australia’s arts and culture calendar.

Each year the fair hosts upwards of 90 emerging and established galleries from Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and beyond, who collectively showcase hundreds of artists producing the best in contemporary and modern art.

Along with the gallery sectors, Sydney Contemporary presents a curated program with hundreds of events taking place across the fair period, providing a platform to celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of contemporary art, learn about current trends and emerging practices, hear from artists and sector leaders, and experience live performances and ambitious installations.

With an exclusive VIP program as well as pop-up bars, cafes, and restaurants, the fair is an unmissable, all-encompassing cultural experience in the heart of Sydney.
