MAKI Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the Kyoto Meetings section of Art Collaboration Kyoto (ACK) with a solo booth by Japanese artist Takuro Tamura. Born in 1989 in Osaka, Tamura draws inspiration from his everyday surroundings and often incorporates motifs related to transportation into his work. The gallery will present a selection of new sculptures from the artist's Lovers series, which takes the form of two traffic mirrors entangled in a tight embrace. In the most recent iterations shown at the fair, the mirrors exhibit an increasingly relaxed mien; their normally rigid bodies are loosely and fluidly intertwined in an almost suggestive manner. Lovers is a practice in minimalist storytelling that harnesses the subtleties of body language and gesture to transform objects into subjects, surreptitiously shifting the ways in which we understand our day-to-day environments.
We look forward to seeing you at booth K06.
Additionally, Kaz Oshiro will present two new sculptures as part of ACK's Public Program, curated by Greg Dvorak under the theme "BEYOND GLITCH: Remapping Reality in a Broken World."
