Press Release

P21 is pleased to present White Elephant, a solo exhibition by Lee Byungchan. Lee has continuously devoted his criticism on today’s production and consumption system by creating a strange malformed creature made of plastic bags which are infinitely produced and disposed in the urbanised environment. In this exhibition, he indicates the phenomenon that we endlessly manufacture ‘sacred but also troublesome’ things as being blinded by the addictive splendour of the consumer culture. With the idea of today’s consumption ecosystem suffering from the contradictory conditions, Lee presents new 3D-printing sculptures that are created by mimicking the process of mass-production and soon-to-be discarded giant plastic bag installations.
