Press Release

I thank my books.
They guide me, help me, and bring me peace.
Although it is a bit troublesome when I move home.
I also made a wish, once the exhibition is over, I want to read books in my book alcove, to experience a different life.

Opening 25 September at Tabula Rasa Beijing, anusman‘s solo exhibition 胸噫 features a series of recent work on paper, including the aritst’s diary drawings, stories inspired from news and real-life events, and illustrated reading notes. As the artist accounts, ‘In the past years, I feel that my life is parallel to and in sync with the society; the huge sufferings are echoed in myself as small miseries and confusions. As the show comes to a whole, my response to reality is not alone, but perhaps shared by us all.’

This is anusman’s third solo exhibition with the gallery.

anusman (b. 1984) is an artist and illustrator. He is widely considered as the first comic theory scholar in China. About the Gallery

With spaces in Beijing’s 798 Art District and London’s East End, Tabula Rasa Gallery was founded in 2015 to present contemporary art across diverse cultural contexts. The gallery’s name comes from the philosophical concept of tabula rasa, or “blank slate,” which reflects its commitment to exhibitions that challenge assumptions and open new ground for artistic experimentation.
