Tamara K. E. was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, and Dusseldorf. K.E. studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich and Kunstakademie Dusseldorf, where she received her Meisterschueler degree in 2004.
K.E. represented Georgia at the 50th Venice Biennale (with Thea Gvetadze) and participated in the 1st Prague Biennial. She won a number of art awards, including the Kunstpreis der Deutschen Volksbanken und Raiffeisenbanken (Germany), the UBS Art Award for Young Art (Switzerland) and The European Prize for Painting (Belgium); was invited for Fountainhead Artist Residency Miami, International Studio & Curatorial Program New York and Etaneno Museum im Busch Namibia.
In the past years, the artist has participated in shows in the U.S. and Europe–exhibited at Whitechapel Gallery London, Museum Sprengel Hannover, Central House of Artists Moscow, CoBrA Museum Amsterdam, Haus Huth Daimler Contemporary Berlin, Van der Heydt Museum Wuppertal, Kunsthalle Hamburg etc.
K.E. held lectures and workshops at the institutions: Goldsmiths University of London, Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Kunstakademie Kassel, Universität der Künste (Berlin), Kunsthochschule Kassel, Pratt Institute (NY), NY Studio Residency Program and Rutgers University (New Brunswick).
K.E. is included in the collections of UBS Private Bank Collection, Deutsche Bank Collection, Daimler Contemporary Art Collection, Von Der Heydt Museum Sammlung, Deutsche Apotheker-und Ärztebank Sammlung, Sammlung der Galerie der Stadt Esslingen, Museum SAFN Reykjavik, Museum für Neue Kunst Freiburg; as well in private collections among others Collection Jochen and Susi Holy, Philara Sammlung, Collection Susanne Porsche, Edward & Phyllis Kwalwasser Art Collection.
