Andrew Miller is a Glasgow based artist working across a variety of media - drawing, sculpture, photography and site-specific installations. Through a process of drawing, altering, transforming and making Miller seeks to gain an understanding of the ambiguity between notions of form and function. He works with the worn and the discarded, and in salvaging, reassembling and re-presenting familiar objects he attempts to ask questions about the way things are placed, valued and used.
Miller’s work has been presented in numerous gallery exhibitions and public art commissions. Recent shows include Industrial Aesthetics, Hunter College, New York and You, Me, Something Else, Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow 2011. In 2012 Miller hosted No Meal is Complete without Conversation with John Shankie for the Glasgow International Festival of Art, he was commissioned to build The Waiting Place, the Pavilion for Edinburgh Art Festival and had a solo show, Dusk or Dawn, at BALTIC|39, Newcastle.
His first solo show at Ingleby Gallery, No Future, ran from 3 February - 10 March, 2012. In 2014, Miller’s work was displayed at the Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh in the group exhibition Counterpoint as part of GENERATION - a nationwide series of exhibitions celebrating 25 years of contemporary art in Scotland.
In 2016, The Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan presented a selection of Miller’s work as part of their first biennale, alongside work by Ai Weiwei, Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme.
