Sarah Ann Weber (b. 1988, Chicago, IL) received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute, Chicago and her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Focusing on the floral and exotic, her highly detailed, dense landscapes explore unstable boundaries of growth, entropy, figure, and ground, intertwining these compositions with personal narratives, as well as historical photographs. Beneath the delicate surfaces, rendered in watercolour and coloured pencil, lies beauty in chaos, and pleasure in the hallucinatory. Weber bestows her works with a distinct sense of psychedelic colour, pattern, and dreaminess that blossoms into abstraction.
