Press Release

Anat Ebgi presents The Wave, a benefit exhibition featuring 13 program artists to support Alec Egan and artists affected by the wildfires which devastated Los Angeles in January. 10% of the gallery’s proceeds will be donated to the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund.

The Wave is on view at 6150 Wilshire Blvd from February 8 through March 22. An opening reception will take place on Saturday, February 8 from 6-8pm.

Alec Egan is one of many who lost his home and studio in the LA wildfires. He was in the final days of completing works for his solo show, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘢, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘬𝘺, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳, set to open at the end of January in our newly renovated and expanded headquarters at 6150 Wilshire Blvd gallery on Miracle Mile. All of the works for the exhibition were burned in the fire.

We are so grateful Alec and his family are safe and mourn with all who are now facing tragic losses and uncertainty. The Wave, is titled after one of Alec’s surviving paintings, which had miraculously been brought to the gallery early. It is a wave of support, a wave of emotion. Make waves, ride the wave, wave goodbye. As we witnessed this tremendous suffering, it has been heartening to see Los Angeles come together to grieve, opening homes, offering hope. Together we rebuild and look ahead to new days, new horizons.
