Press Release

Cut, Ground is a solo exhibition by Singaporean artist Ang Song Nian, presented by Art Outreach Singapore as part of Singapore Art Week 2026.

Drawing attention to the often-unseen routines that shape Singapore’s urban landscape, the exhibition reflects on the cycle of roadside tree trimming where branches are cut, processed, and returned to the ground as mulch. Through moving image and installation, Ang isolates a fleeting moment within this process: the release of fragments from the wood chipper.

Removed from their usual function, these remnants are reframed as transient forms, inviting reflection on cycles of care, control, and renewal. Cut, Ground transforms a quiet act of maintenance into a meditation on ecology, labour, and time within the city’s carefully managed environment.
