Hospital Rooms and Hauser & Wirth have announced the artists participating in their ongoing collaboration to raise funds for art commissions and activities in Britain’s mental health hospitals.

This year’s programme will begin with an exhibition at Hauser & Wirth’s Savile Row gallery in London, entitled Holding Space.

The exhibition will feature a mural by Sutapa Biswas for Springfield University Hospital that was conceived with patients in its OCD clinic.

The exhibition will include workshops featuring the National Opera Studio and the Ballet Boyz.

Holding Space opens on 16 August and continues through 12 September 2023.

Hospital Rooms’ annual auction will take place at Bonhams the same day Holding Space concludes.

Artists including Martin Creed, Rashid Johnson, Charles Gaines, Chantal Joffe, Do Ho Suh, and Caroline Walker have donated original works. Bonhams will exhibit these works on Bond Street from 4 September 2023 and will waive all fees for the auction.

Hospital Rooms aims to raise £500,000 (US $635,000) to commission artworks and creative programmes for mental health hospitals, including the Children and Adolescent service in Sandwell at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. —[O]
