Press Release

Richard Zinon’s second act expands the language of his practice through a broader range of gestural interplays. Subtle tonal variations give way to a stronger emphasis on the mark itself and on the distinct character each gesture brings across the field of view. Each work occupies the space in its own way, inviting the viewer to engage with the compositions and their individual presence.

“Penombra XXXVIII” moves vertically from top to bottom, with brushstrokes that create a layered sense of depth, gently surrounded by warm hues. The marks seem to dissolve into the canvas, drawing the viewer into a soothing field. “Penombra XXVI”, in contrast, is sharp and controlled. Its composition feels direct and deliberate, asserting itself with clarity. Beside it, “Penombra XXIX” and “Penombra XI” enter into a close dialogue. Installed next to each other in the main gallery space, they create a strong sense of momentum. The eye moves constantly between them, pulled by their opposing qualities of gradual revelation and immediacy.

Together, these works reveal a shift in rhythm and intensity within Zinon’s practice. The exhibition moves between composure and expression, allowing each gesture to hold its own presence while contributing to a larger sense of movement across the space.
