On the occasion of the exhibition Mira Schendel. Sarrafos and Black and White Works, Hauser & Wirth and the Poetry Society of America co-presents a reading and talk with Charles Bernstein and Sergio Bessa on Schendel’s work, the Noigandres poets and concrete poetry, as well as a reading of poetry by Brazilian poet and close friend of Schendel’s Haroldo de Campos (1929–2003).

Charles Bernstein is the Donald T. Regan Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Pennsylvania and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His most recent collection of critical essays is Pitch of Poetry and his most recent collection of poetry is All the Whiskey in Heaven: Selected Poems.

Sergio Bessa is the Bronx Museum’s Director of Curatorial and Education Programs. He has contributed texts to numerous catalogues, anthologies, and scholarly journals, and is the author of Öyvind Fahlström: The Art of Writing and a co-editor and translator of Haroldo de Campos’ Novas: Selected Writings.
