'I am strangely enamoured by landscapes-through-glass, where I can simultaneously observe the vertical and horizontal, the obverse and reverse, the up and down. Lines of vision extending from the inside out and from the outside in intersect and reflect each other, as in a mirror, or perhaps as light does. So I roll my eyes about, distributing my gaze every which way, before fixing on the medium of reflection in front of me, the glass pane. Stained and smudged, swept and cleansed, patterns bearing atmospheric encounters (within and without), dust, and other unknowable things. I imagine the time that went into these encounters. The pooled traces obscure the clear glass, clarifying in turn its membrane-like nature.'

ONE FOUR gallery is pleased to present Iridescent Fog, a solo exhibition of two dimensional work by a Seoul based artist Heewon Oh. The exhibition will be on view from October 17th November 30th.
Heewon's Works reflects optical, geometric and meteorological worldviews in painting. The artist assumes that the plane of painting is a space where sedimentation and weathering take place. Using the acrylic paint and water-based mediums, she attempts to capture different elements and natural conditions of the world such as water, the atmosphere, lights and minerals. By stratifying these elements on a canvas or 'the plane' the artist hopes to reveal more discrete correlations of the material world.
In the exhibition Iridescent Fog, Heewon explores progress of our time through the depiction of climate, which is in another word, movement of the atmosphere. The cumulation of light gets merged into a vague mass of cluster. Therefore, this singular form creates the iridescent reflection from the clustered image.
