She appropriates and aligns herself with aesthetics from Punk and Rock & Roll—traditionally masculine spaces—fusing them with the mystical and the surreal to question the feminine legacy that imprisons and categorizes women. Her practice seeks to generate new spaces and alter egos that allow us to become who we want to be, opening paths toward forms of care that are honest, accessible, and peaceful. Pablo Bellot at his installation “Acts of Communication” reflects on the communication incapacity of the contemporary individual, who, despite being immersed in the era of communication and information, is paradoxically unable to communicate. I generate various actions as acts of communication that give shape to cries of unease and fists slammed on the table.

In his practice, Henning Strassburger explores the intersection of identity, mass media, and self-representation in the digital age. Known primarily for his colorful paintings, he has recently added figuration to his abstract practice. Inhabiting a long tradition of abstract painting, Strassburger’s work is characterized by free-form and expressionistic gestures. He attempts to eliminate any trace of his hand, applying paint in thin layers on flat fields of white primer that seem to be mechanized, resisting the kind of thick and uneven application typical of much Abstract Expressionism. Henning’s paintings take inspiration from advertising color schemes or draw on commercial imagery, reflecting on painting’s displacement as a dominant force of visual culture over the course of the 20th and 21st centuries.
