Pilar Corrias is pleased to present across both its gallery spaces Conversation Galante, a group exhibition of new and recent works by Nina Chanel Abney, Ana Benaroya, Katherine Bradford, Henning Strassburger, Sofia Mitsola, France-Lise McGurn, GaHee Park, and Didier William.

Conversation Galante brings together a diverse group of painters whose work celebrates conversation, playfulness and intimacy. Titled after Nicolas Lancret’s 1719 painting, held in London’s Wallace Collection, the exhibition conjures an imaginary forum distinct from the politics of the city or the court, where gender, identity and societal roles are unfixed. Collectively, the paintings summon a mood where conversation itself becomes a condition akin to Vladimir Nabokov’s notion of ‘aesthetic bliss’: ‘a sense of being somehow, somewhere, connected with other states of being where art (curiosity, tenderness, kindness, ecstasy) is the norm.’

Pilar Corrias Gallery is a contemporary art gallery owned by Pilar Corrias.Since its inception, the gallery has worked with emerging and established artists with the central aim of allowing their work to grow both in terms of production of new projects and the making of new exhibitions. Pilar Corrias now represents a total of thirty-five international artists, two-thirds of whom are female.
