We recognize the beauty of the fluff that falls from the sky or the shadows created by the light reflected off trees. Anju’s works, too, are suddenly present before our eyes, with forms and colors that are difficult to describe. As soon as the canvas is prepared, the artist paints unceasingly until the end without leaving a trace of arbitrariness. However, the artist’s consciousness and his body certainly exist between the act of painting and the canvas. The talent to generate paintings in such a way is extraordinary. In this way, those enigmatic images allow us to liberate our minds from the world of language and show us what freedom feels like.
In this exhibition, Anju will present the world of Circular Skies, a series of works featuring golden supports and kumohada-mashi (hemp paper).
