The Guide Video of Bi Rongrong: “Re-encode—Pattern XI-∞” in CHAT, Hong Kong. 2020
Bi Rongrong's latest series of work 'Re-encode—Pattern XI-∞' is presented in the spring exhibition Unconstrained Textiles: Stitching Methods, Crossing Ideas held by CHAT (Centre for Heritage Arts & Textitle) in Hong Kong. The exhibition is curated by Mizuki Takahashi, and seven contemporary artists participated, including Bi Rongrong, Kato Izumi, Byron Kim, Ham Kyungah, David Medalla, Kawita Vatanajyankur and Samson Young.
CHAT was initially scheduled to launch the exhibition on 21 March until 14 June. Due to the agreement of social distance, the exhibition was temporarily suspended after the opening and is scheduled to reopen on 7 May. In order to make the work more intuitive, Bi Rongrong recorded a guide video in which she interpreted her ideas of exhibition and demonstrated in detail the origin of the patterns in her works.
