The award winning works of Eric Chan (b. 1975, Malaysia) are based on moving shapes. The act of capturing the subject on canvas, be it a flower, plant or landscape, is akin to a photographer immortalising a fleeting moment—a glimpse of space in time. Meticulously flawless, each piece resonates a quite mystery and serenity.
Depicted mostly in somber colours, his paintings open the way into a dreamlike world where the viewer moves into a different state of mind. The confidence and strength of his brushstrokes render on canvas a flowing and meditative dynamism.
Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Eric Chan studied art in Singapore and Australia. He received his Diploma of Fine Arts at the LASALLE-SIA College of the Art and Master of Fine Arts (painting) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Eric has exhibited in Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and Singapore.
