Renes is a Spanish artist known for blending drawing, ceramics, animation, and text into installations that are both poetic and playful.
After training at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and later at the University of the Basque Country, he spent nearly two decades between New York and Rome before returning to Spain in 2014, when ceramics became central to his practice. Renes embraces imperfection and chance in his visual language, often exploring the tension between everyday vernacular forms and lyrical abstraction. His large-scale project Medir Tierra at MUSAC (2022) brought together mosaics made of more than 11,000 handmade tiles, an animation, sculpture, and drawings—an emblematic work that shows how his art transforms personal memory and collective identity into visual narratives.
