Working from her studio in Melbourne, Australia, Jennifer Goodman’s practice is a detailed investigation into colour and composition, inspired by linear and geometric abstraction, modernism and colour theory.
Goodman studied painting at RMIT in the mid 1970s and after a 20 year hiatus, had her first solo exhibition in Melbourne in 2002. This has been followed by a string of highly successful shows culminating in her achieving representation with Gallerysmith earlier this year.
Goodman has been shortlisted for numerous awards since 2000 including the National Works on Paper Prize at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery in 2012. Her works are included in the collections of McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park, Artbank, Latrobe University Art Museum and the City of Darebin. Her work is also hung in the Australian Embassy in Washington DC, USA.
