John Bevan Ford Biography

John Bevan Ford belongs to an early generation of contemporary Māori artist that emerged in the 1960s, acknowledging the spirituality of the landscape through the iconography of traditional weaving (raranga) and painted scrollwork (kowhaiwhai)). Ford studied under Gordon Tovey at the Dunedin Teachers College (1951) and has work in numerous international public collections.
